Terp Thon was started at the University of Maryland in 2010. Our first Dance Marathon took place on April 24-25, 2010. The event lasted 18 hours and 56 minutes in honor of the year Maryland was founded. In our first year we had over 40 student organizations register, 250 dancer, and raised $56,000- making us the most successful first year dance marathon ever!
Our organization focuses on a year long fundraising drive that culminates in a huge celebration in the spring semester for the fundraisers and their donors. All of the money raised from the year goes straight to the kids and their doctors. The event also brings in hospital staff and best of all, the kids and families that directly benefit from our fundraising efforts.
We are happy to support our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital- Children’s National Medical Center in DC.
There are lots of ways to get involved in Dance Marathon from serving on our Executive Board and Committees to dancing to volunteering to just hearing about our cause!
